Are you leaving MONEY on the table?

Tips and tricks for small business owners and social media managers

“Pinterest is a VASTLY underutilized platform for anyone who is promoting or selling an online offer or merchandise.”

With the rise of social media, digital marketing took the drivers seat in many entrepreneurs marketing plans. Why use expensive print media that is immediately out of date when you can spend next to nothing and keep updated information constantly in front of your audience?

But just like anything, it’s easy to get into a rut and lose sight of ALL the potential out there.

I recently had a conversation with a client who has been VERY active on Instagram and Facebook through the years. They have grown a great following and consistently shows up to share HIGH VALUE content with their audience. Yet, their reach and engagement has dropped off and the number of people entering their sales funnel has plummeted.

What the heck?

Their confusion is reasonable. They are committed to showing up, sharing amazing information and serving their followers. So why the decline?

What I told this particular client, in short, is that the PLATFORMS they are so committed to actually control who they are in front of and HOW people find them. And unfortunately, their algorithm may not be doing for you what you hoped it would do.

So what does that mean? Social media marketing is dead? It’s pointless and won’t gain us the traction we hope for?

NOT AT ALL!

It simply means as digital marketers we have to be become more intentional about how we reach our ideal audience. We don’t throw the baby out with the bathwater (I legitimately don’t understand that saying but it fits here)! Instead of adjust and evolve as the amazing entrepreneurs we truly are.

Here are just a FEW ways you can choose to pivot to ensure your social media and digital marketing efforts are working for you.

  1. Do a full evaluation of where you are currently showing up and how these do (or do not) work together. Socially Inspired offers a business audit to help with this. We will look at all aspects of your digital marketing and come back with a full report WITH recommendations on next steps.

  2. Take advantage of that amazing content you’re creating! If EVERYTHING is content, then it truly comes down to HOW are yo using it? Can you take that same content and use it on another platform to reach more of your audience? Have you considered a blog, a podcast or a YouTube channel?

  3. Be willing to think outside of the box. I recently was talking with another client about the opportunities to be found on Pinterest. They were honestly shocked because they had always viewed this platform as a “DIY/Crafter” site. While that may have once been true (and still is in part) the evolution of social media platforms has happened across the board. Pinterest is a VASTLY underutilized platform for anyone who is promoting or selling an online offer or merchandise. Looking for out-of-the-box ways to reach your audience will keep you growing and evolving as a business.

  4. Nurture that list! It doesn’t happen often, but occasionally a trusty platform we always rely on will go down (cough, cough…I’m looking at you Instagram). It’s in those moments that you realize you don’t ACTUALLY own your follower list. As you capture emails and grow your following, be sure to create ways you are connecting with them OFF the typical platforms. Create a nurture sequence that will keep your audience engaged AND provide them with excellent value.

As always, Socially Inspired is here to help with all of this. The management side of our business is here to help you recognize AND execute all of these elements and ultimately GROW your biz.
